About me

My Devore Velvet Collection

I use my observational drawings to explore transparency and outline, which I translate into stencils and hand printing screens. I specialise in the Devore print technique onto luxurious white silk/viscose velvet, which I then dye and make into scarves, cushions and accessories.

I print and paint deColourant paste onto black velvet and then over dye to create jewel like tones. My striking abstract geometrics create a modern twist from shapes inspired by the local landscape. I create seasonal collections and sell my scarves at the New Brewery Arts, Cirencester.

Sarah White
Artist and Textile Designer

I am an artist based in the Cotswolds. My paintings are distant, tranquil observations of land, sky and water. Using grounds of velvet, I use diffused layers of dyes, inks and pastels to enrich the surface, adding depth and exploring how light falls on linear forms in the landscape throughout the changing seasons. Some of my works are embellished with a highlight of gold to add to the optical richness.

I also like to explore my observations of landscape through my collagraph and dry point printing, cutting away surfaces or creating textures to build up printing plates based on landscape layers.  I use dry point techniques and Lino cuts to create print editions and unique greeting cards.

I am a member of Stroud Artists Cooperative and have enjoyed meeting fellow artists, and exhibiting in a variety of exhibitions and art fairs.

I have a Textile Degree, and an Industry Masters. I had a career in fabric consultancy, and I sold textile designs internationally for both fashion and interiors. I taught and set external projects at Universities. I am a qualified teacher.
